| The technique was developed by Tom
Bowen of Geelong, Australia. Tom was an ordinary man who worked
as a general hand at the Geelong Cement Works. He had no formal
experience in any field of therapy or medical study. |
| Whilst working at the cement works,
he discovered he had an ability to assist his colleagues who
suffered injuries or pain, by making small simple moves in
specific areas of their bodies. |
| He worked all day at the cement
works, and his evenings and weekends were spent treating people. |
| After a while, he became so busy
and so well-known that he was forced to leave his day job and
open a clinic in Geelong. |
|
| He showed several people his method
of working, and they continued his work after his death in
1982. |
|
| Tom's work was based on his deep
intuition and understanding of an individual's needs. He believed
this to be a gift from God. As a result, many of his theories
and methods of treatment may seem somewhat unusual, but the
results continue to speak volumes for their power and effectiveness. |

Tom's creed for life:
"I expect to pass through this world but once;
Any good thing therefore that I can do
Or any kindness that I can show
To any fellow creature,
Let me do it now.
Let me not defer or neglect it
For I shall not pass this way again."
